Privacy Policy
TaxStand respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we use it, and the choices you have. We try to write this in plain English; if any part is unclear, ask us at hello@taxstand.us.
"TaxStand," "we," "us," or "our" refers to Outlaw Holdings LLC, a Texas limited liability company.
1. What we collect
We collect only the information we need to operate the service. Here's the full list:
| Category | When we collect it | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | When you sign up for the waitlist or purchase a packet | Send you launch notifications, your packet, and service-related emails |
| County of interest | Waitlist signup | Prioritize which counties we build scraper support for next |
| Referral code (if any) | Waitlist signup, if you used a referral link or entered a code | Track word-of-mouth and credit referrers |
| IP address | Every visit (in standard web server logs) | Security, abuse prevention, broad geographic analytics |
| Browser type and version (User-Agent) | Every visit | Compatibility, debugging |
| Property account number (CAD parcel ID) | When you purchase a packet | Generate the packet for your specific property |
| Payment information | When you purchase a packet | Process payment via Stripe. We do not store full card numbers; Stripe handles that. |
| Customer-supplied evidence | If you upload photos or context to enhance your packet | Include in your packet |
What we don't collect:
- We do not collect Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, or other government IDs
- We do not collect bank account information directly (Stripe handles payments)
- We do not access your CAD account credentials or log in to the CAD on your behalf
- We do not use location services or precise geolocation beyond IP-based country/region inference
- We do not collect biometric data
2. How we use it
We use the information we collect to:
- Generate, deliver, and update your protest packet
- Send you launch notifications, service updates, and packet-related communication
- Process payments and handle refund requests
- Improve TaxStand based on aggregate usage patterns
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or service errors
- Comply with applicable law
We do not use your information to:
- Sell or rent data to third parties
- Send unrelated marketing from other businesses
- Build advertising profiles for retargeting
- Train AI models on your personal information
3. When we share data with third parties
We share information only as necessary to operate the service or when legally required:
| Service | What's shared | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Brevo (transactional email) | Email address, name, county, referral code | Sending waitlist confirmations, packets, and service emails |
| Stripe (payment processing) | Name, email, payment details, transaction amount | Processing payments and refunds |
| Cloudflare / hosting provider | IP address, request metadata (server-log level) | Site delivery, DDoS protection, abuse prevention |
| County Appraisal Districts | Only the public account-number data we look up | Pulling public CAD records to build your packet — we query their public portal the same way any homeowner would |
We may also disclose information when required by valid legal process (subpoena, court order, government request) or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Outlaw Holdings LLC, our users, or the public.
If Outlaw Holdings LLC is acquired or merges with another entity, your information may transfer to the successor — subject to this privacy policy.
4. Cookies and analytics
The TaxStand website uses minimal cookies — limited to essential functional cookies needed for the site to work (e.g., remembering a logged-in session, if applicable). We do not use third-party advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or cross-site tracking.
For aggregate site analytics, we use server-side log analysis only. We do not currently embed Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or similar client-side tracking. If we add lightweight, privacy-respecting analytics in the future (e.g., Plausible, Fathom, or Cloudflare Web Analytics — none of which use cookies or share data with advertisers), we will update this policy.
5. How long we keep data
- Waitlist signups: Until you unsubscribe or request deletion, or up to 24 months of inactivity, whichever comes first.
- Generated packets: Stored in your account for as long as you maintain the account, and retained in our archives for up to 7 years for record-keeping and customer-support purposes.
- Payment records: Retained per Stripe's policies and Texas tax/financial recordkeeping requirements (typically 7 years).
- Server logs (IP, user-agent): Retained for 90 days, then deleted.
6. Your rights and choices
You can:
- Request a copy of the personal information we have about you. Email hello@taxstand.us and we'll respond within 30 days.
- Request correction of any information you believe is inaccurate.
- Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal record-keeping requirements for paid transactions).
- Unsubscribe from non-essential email at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by emailing us directly.
- Object to or restrict our use of your information for any reason.
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know, delete, and opt out of any sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
If you are an EU/UK resident, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the rights to access, rectify, erase, port, and object to processing of your data. We process data based on legitimate interest (operating the service) and your consent (where applicable).
7. Security
We protect your information with reasonable physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards including: HTTPS encryption everywhere, modern TLS configuration, server-level access controls, principle of least privilege for internal data access, and Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure for payment data.
No system is perfectly secure. In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your information, we will notify affected users in accordance with applicable Texas and federal law, including Texas Business and Commerce Code §521.053.
8. Children's privacy
TaxStand is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. If you are not in Texas
TaxStand serves Texas property owners. While the public CAD data we work with is specific to Texas counties, our website is accessible globally and we may collect waitlist signups from anywhere. If you are accessing TaxStand from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated via email to waitlist subscribers and active customers at least 14 days before they take effect.
