1. Who we are
"TaxStand" is a service offered by Outlaw Holdings LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("Outlaw Holdings," "we," "us," or "our"). When these terms refer to "TaxStand," they mean the website at taxstand.us and any related services we provide. When they refer to "you," they mean the user of the service.
2. What TaxStand is (and isn't)
TaxStand is a software tool that assembles a property tax protest evidence packet for Texas homeowners. We use publicly available data from Texas Central Appraisal Districts ("CADs") to generate a PDF document the homeowner can file with their county appraisal district as part of a property tax protest under Texas Tax Code Chapter 41.
TaxStand is NOT:
- A licensed property tax consulting firm. We are not registered under Texas Occupations Code Chapter 1152 and we do not act as a property tax consultant.
- A law firm. Nothing TaxStand produces is legal advice. We do not provide legal services.
- A tax preparation service. We do not prepare or file federal, state, or local tax returns of any kind.
- A real estate brokerage or appraiser. We are not licensed under Texas Occupations Code Chapter 1101 or Chapter 1103.
- An agent representing you. We do not file your protest on your behalf, communicate with the CAD on your behalf, or appear at any Appraisal Review Board hearing on your behalf.
3. Who can use TaxStand
You may use TaxStand if you are at least 18 years old, have the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements, and own or have the legal authority to act with respect to a Texas residential property. By using TaxStand, you represent that all of the above is true.
4. Your account and information
To receive a protest packet, you'll provide information including your name, email address, property account number (the public CAD identifier), and payment method. You agree that all information you provide is accurate. You're responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any account credentials and for all activity under your account.
For details on how we handle the data you provide, see our Privacy Policy.
5. The protest packet service
When you purchase a TaxStand packet, we use publicly available data from your county's CAD to generate a PDF document containing: (a) your property's public appraisal record, (b) comparable property data drawn from the same CAD's published records, (c) computed unequal-appraisal analysis under Texas Tax Code §41.43(b)(3), (d) a homestead-exemption diagnostic where applicable, and (e) supporting context including suggested filing steps and hearing-preparation materials.
The packet is delivered via email and downloadable from your account. The packet is intended to be filed with your county appraisal district as evidence supporting your property tax protest.
6. Filing and hearings are your responsibility
You acknowledge and agree that:
- You are responsible for filing your Notice of Protest (Form 50-132) with your county appraisal district by the applicable statutory deadline (generally May 15 or 30 days after notice of appraised value is mailed, whichever is later).
- You are responsible for attending any informal review meeting or formal Appraisal Review Board hearing scheduled in connection with your protest. TaxStand will not appear on your behalf.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of any statements you make to the CAD or ARB. The packet TaxStand generates contains information drawn from public CAD records; you are responsible for verifying that the information accurately reflects your property and circumstances before submission.
- You are responsible for filing any homestead exemption (Form 50-114) or other exemption applications. While TaxStand may identify potentially recoverable homestead value, filing the exemption application itself is solely your responsibility.
7. No guarantees of outcome
TaxStand makes no guarantee, warranty, or representation that your property tax protest will be successful or that any specific reduction in appraised or assessed value will be achieved. Property tax protest outcomes depend on factors outside TaxStand's control, including: the discretion of the CAD and ARB, the specific facts of your property, the quality of comparable data available in your neighborhood, and your own presentation at hearings.
Historic outcomes for other users are not predictive of your outcome. References to specific dollar reductions on this site reflect documented past results and do not constitute a promise or guarantee.
8. Pricing and payment
The TaxStand packet is offered at a flat rate per packet per tax year per property. Current pricing is shown on the TaxStand site at the time of purchase. Texas state and applicable local sales tax will be added at checkout where required. Payment is processed via Stripe, Inc.; we do not store full payment card information on our systems.
TaxStand operates on a flat-fee, no-contingency basis. We do not take a percentage of any tax savings, reductions, or refunds you may obtain. We do not auto-renew your subscription or charge you for subsequent years without your explicit purchase.
9. Refunds
Our refund policy is detailed in our Refund Policy, which is incorporated into these terms by reference.
10. Intellectual property
The TaxStand website, software, and the format and design of the protest packet are the intellectual property of Outlaw Holdings LLC. The underlying public CAD data is in the public record and not subject to our copyright; the analysis, layout, and editorial content of the packet are ours.
When you purchase a packet, you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the packet for the purpose of filing your own property tax protest. You may not resell the packet, redistribute it, or use it on behalf of third parties as part of a commercial service without our written permission.
11. Prohibited uses
You may not use TaxStand:
- To file a property tax protest on behalf of a person or entity that has not authorized you to do so
- To impersonate another property owner
- To submit false or fraudulent information to a Central Appraisal District or Appraisal Review Board
- To resell, repackage, or commercially redistribute the packet TaxStand generates
- To scrape, mirror, or systematically copy the TaxStand website or its content
- In any way that violates applicable Texas, federal, or local law
12. Disclaimers
THE TAXSTAND SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that the public CAD data we rely on is complete or accurate. Property appraisal data is provided by third-party Texas county appraisal districts and may contain errors or omissions outside our control.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUTLAW HOLDINGS LLC, ITS OFFICERS, MEMBERS, EMPLOYEES, AND CONTRACTORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF TAXSTAND, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF TAXSTAND IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TAXSTAND IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR $200, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of these limitations may not apply to you.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Outlaw Holdings LLC, its officers, members, employees, and contractors from any third-party claim, demand, or liability (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your misuse of the service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right in connection with your property tax protest.
15. Governing law and dispute resolution
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflicts-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from or related to these terms or your use of TaxStand shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Tarrant County, Texas, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated to active users and waitlist subscribers via email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of TaxStand after the effective date of updated terms constitutes acceptance of those terms.
